What the film is
Parsewell is a web data tool that does not exist. We made it up for this film, so nothing in it belongs to a real business. The film has one job: make a buyer understand, in under a minute, that Parsewell takes a messy web page and hands back a clean record they can use.
It runs 49 seconds, in widescreen at 1920 by 1080 pixels and 60 frames a second. Every screen carries a small line at the foot, “Illustrative data · fictional store”, and the three shops in it use made-up addresses ending in “.example”.
Scene by scene, with the words on screen
The times below are approximate, read from stills taken every two seconds.
| Time | What you see |
|---|---|
| 0:00 | A thin glassy sheet, standing in for a web page, floats on a dark ground. Words: “One page. 1,842 tags.” Below: “31 scripts · 4 prices on the page”. |
| 0:04 | The ground turns light. “One call. One record.” Below it, in code type: “POST /v1/scrape → 8 keys”. |
| 0:08 | A red title card with the Parsewell mark and the line “Web data API · Scrape / Crawl / Search / Map”. |
| 0:10 | The Parsewell workspace. A product page address, gear.example/p/tern-40, is run, and a record comes back: name “Tern 40 backpack”, a stock code, price 148, currency USD, in stock, rating 4.6. Caption: “Raw HTML in. A record out.” |
| 0:16 | The price 148 sits large beside the label “Source price changed”. It drops to 132, with “Same URL, Tuesday. −16 USD.” |
| 0:22 | Three shop cards side by side: gear.example at $132, northline.example at $152, packhaus.example at $139. “Three stores. One product.” A search and a site map run, then: “Lowest today: packhaus.example · 139.” |
| 0:32 | The same page as plain text. “Markdown, not guesswork.” |
| 0:34 | A question is typed: “What changed on the Tern 40 page since Monday?” The answer reports the price drop from 148 to 132. Caption: “Ask the page what changed.” |
| 0:38 | “Cited to the line.” A source line points to gear.example/p/tern-40, line 42. |
| 0:40 | “One SDK.” A terminal window shows a one-line install and an import. |
| 0:42 | Four tools named in a row: “Scrape. Crawl. Search. Map.” |
| 0:44 | The glassy sheet returns on dark. “Every page, parsed.” The Parsewell mark settles in the corner and the film ends at 0:49. |
