Who is winning, and the move
Three companies are setting the pace, each with a different move. Faasos, Rebel Foods' wrap brand, announced it would open its first physical outlet in Pune on 10 October 2026, with a free wrap promised to the first 200 customers and its Wrapchik range from Rs 59 for the day. Curefoods ran Sharief Bhai in a Swiggy co-run campaign across 100 outlets, including Chennai, in a ten-day slot on 19 to 28 December 2025, with premium biryanis from Rs 249. Potful had grown to 29 kitchens across Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai by December 2025.
The nearest competitors
Two competitor moves are worth watching. Curefoods is testing a way off the aggregators: on 19 October 2026 it began piloting MegaBite, its own delivery app, in Bengaluru's HSR Layout only, with dishes at Rs 49 to Rs 199 and no delivery or platform fee claimed. Swiggy said in early August 2026 that Toing, its affordable-meals platform, now runs in 50 cities including Chennai, and its page promises "Pay what you see in the restaurant menu".
The opening
Our read is that Sharief Bhai and Potful tell their story in chain-wide totals: Sharief Bhai's 4.2 Swiggy rating and 2M+ orders cover all its stores, and Potful's 56% repeat rate covers its three-city network. Both list their Chennai outlets by locality, and Sharief Bhai gives its Chennai outlets their own listings, yet the reviews line on its Velachery listing still reads "Google review count to be synced", and neither chain shows a Chennai rating, repeat rate or opening date. A newcomer can win by filling the slot Sharief Bhai has built and left empty, as the Chennai kitchen that publishes its own local rating and repeat figure.
